Biography

Lynn Almond joined the Accounting and Information Systems Department faculty in 2010. Lynn received a Master of Accountancy degree from Virginia Tech in 1988 and spent the next 25+ years working in industry. Lynn has held senior financial management positions in high-tech manufacturing, textile manufacturing and the construction industry.

Lynn has extensive experience working with companies in challenging situations. He worked with a crisis management consulting firm, working with clients in manufacturing, health care, fine arts and the financial industry.

Lynn is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia and a Certified Management Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) and the American Accounting Association (AAA).

Lynn brings his extensive business experience into the classroom to teach various accounting courses. Lynn has received several teaching awards and is regarded as an excellent classroom teacher. He is also the faculty advisor to the Accounting Society. He teaches financial and managerial accounting courses, including Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II and Advanced Financial Accounting. Lynn is currently teaching and coordinating the Principles of Financial Accounting and Principles of Managerial Accounting courses.
