Began Ph.D. Program



Michael Corum joined the Ph.D. program in the Accounting and Information Systems department at Virginia Tech in the Fall of 2020. He received his M.S. in Accounting from Appalachian State University in 2015 after receiving his B.S.B.A in Accounting from Appalachian State in 2014. 

Michael's research interests include tax policy, corporate taxation, and partnership taxation. He is interested in studying the effects of tax code changes on different entities as well as learn about the factors for why and how these changes were made. His main method of studying these areas is currently archival research.

Michael began his career as tax associate with Bernard Robinson & Company in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was promoted within the firm to tax supervisor before deciding to pursue a doctoral degree. He is a CPA licensed in North Carolina.
