Began Ph.D. Program



Carissa Malone joined the Ph.D. program in the Accounting and Information Systems department at Virginia Tech in the Fall of 2017.  Her research focuses on the judgment and decision making of auditors. Prior to enrolling in the Ph.D. program, she worked in auditing and accounting compliance across various industries including non-profit, oil and gas, consulting, and retail. Most recently, she worked in accounting and grants management at Arnold Ventures (formerly, the Laura and John Arnold Foundation). Carissa earned an MBA in accounting from the University of St. Thomas – Houston and a bachelor's degree in anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin. She is an AICPA Doctoral Fellow and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and The PhD Project.
