Thomas B. Hansen
Dr. Bowe Hansen joined the faculty at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2011. He earned his Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Washington & Lee University in 1996, Masters of Taxation from the University of South Carolina in 2002, and Ph.D. from Emory University in 2007. Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Prof. Hansen served on the faculty at the University of New Hampshire for four years.
His research interests focus on the use of accounting information by the capital markets, and the impact of government regulation on accounting disclosures. His previous work has investigated issues related to the passage of Sarbanes-Oxley, as well as regulations regarding disclosures by non-U.S. firms listed on U.S. exchanges. His research has been published in leading accounting journals including The Accounting Review, and Review of Accounting Studies. In addition, Bowe serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation, and has served as a reviewer for the European Accounting Review and the Journal of International Accounting Research.
Professor Hansen has taught the introductory Financial Accounting course, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, and International Accounting, and is currently teaching Advanced Accounting at Virginia Tech.
