Brian Benson

Brian is the Director of Accounting Governance and Corporate Oversight for Performance Food Group in their Richmond, VA headquarters. He primarily assists PFG’s different segments in foodservice, retail, specialty, and food manufacturing through a variety of issues, including accounting policy implementation, internal control reviews, and M&A integration. He additionally manages the leasing team and a portion of the financial reporting team, and leads several different key entity-wide initiatives.

Prior to Performance Food Group, Brian held a variety of roles, including Corporate Controller at Lawrence Companies and Indiana Packers Corporation, IT and Real Estate Controller at Lowe’s Home Improvement, and was a Manager at EY in their audit practice in Richmond, Virginia focused primarily on retail and food manufacturing clients and led the office recruiting team from 2018 – 2020.

He previously served on the Emerging Leaders Board (ELB) for the ACIS Department and has served as a PUMP or MACIS mentor for over 10 years. He is also the previous chair of the Virginia Society of CPA’s Young Professional Advisory Council, where he also serves on the scholarship committee and was named a VSCPA Top 5 Under 35 CPA in Virginia in 2020.

Brian earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and information systems from Virginia Tech, earned his M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and is a licensed CPA in the state of Virginia.
