Jim Hatch

Jim Hatch is retired from the financial services industry, having served as Corporate Controller and Principal Accounting Officer for First Union Corp., and Wachovia Corp in Charlotte. Prior to that, he worked for Arthur Andersen, also in Charlotte.
He received his B.S. in Management from the University of Lynchburg and MACIS from Virginia Tech in 1972. Currently, he is a member of the Pamplin Advisory Council, having served as its President and Cabinet Chair. In 2018 Jim founded the Pamplin Community for Leadership and Engagement (PCLE), an association of all Pamplin Advisory Boards to share best practices and promotion of alumni engagement. He served as Chair of the 2019 and 2024 Pamplin Engagement Summit.
Jim received the University's Alumni Distinguished Service Award in 2018 and the Pamplin Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010.
From 2011 to 2015 he served as Chair of the ACIS Advisory Board. He is a member of Virginia Tech's 1872 Society, the Pylon Society and the Ut Prosim Society President's Circle. Jim also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Tech Foundation.
