Biography

Pengruijie (Rainie) Zhou joined the Ph.D. program in the Accounting and Information Systems Department at Virginia Tech in the Fall of 2025. Her research interests include financial archival accounting, corporate governance, and behavioral accounting.

Before starting her Ph.D., she worked as an Assistant Accounting Manager in the hospitality industry, where she prepared operating and budgeting reports, reconciled bank and tax transactions, and supported monthly and annual financial reporting. She also served as a research assistant and teaching assistant at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned her M.S. in Accounting. Rainie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honors) in Accounting from Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University.
