MACIS Student Council
Meet our MACIS Student Council Members!
Our MACIS Student Council’s mission is connectivity amongst all MACIS and 152-Hour students. The Council is comprised of a diverse subset of students who plan various social events, maintain MACIS student social media accounts and are willing to help our MACIS and 152-Hour students in any way that they can!
Zemin is from China, and she earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Information Systems from Virginia Tech. Zemin continues to pursue the Tax Option of our Master of Accounting and Information Systems (MACIS) Program. She hopes to specialize in international taxation. Family is most precious to her, and she cherishes every moment with her family. Zemin also likes photography, especially portrait photography.
Will is a graduate student from Wayne, PA in the Accounting Analytics Option of our MACIS Program. He is graduating in the Spring of 2022 and will be joining PwC in their Philadelphia office as a Digital Assurance and Transparency associate after graduation.
Outside of school, Will likes spending time with family, hiking, fishing, and playing football. Will is looking forward to networking and meeting new friends in the MACIS Program.
Maria Fernandez is a graduate student in the Accounting Analytics Option of our MACIS Program. She plans to graduate in the Summer of 2022 to then join KPMG as an Audit Associate in its Miami office. Maria looks forward to meeting as many MACIS students as possible, and to be able to make long lasting relationships at Virginia Tech.
Josephine is an international student from Accra, Ghana. She is a graduate student in the Accounting Analytics Option of our MACIS Program. She is also a Graduate Assistant. Josephine plans to graduate in May 2022 after which she will be joining the Business Consulting Practice in the Tysons/McLean office of Ernst & Young LLP.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, tele-workouts, making clothes patterns and sewing. Josephine hopes to be able to spend time this year interacting with her colleagues after a year of studying online.
Lexi is a graduate student in the MACIS program, planning to graduate in May 2022. She is excited to be continuing her education as she is a Blacksburg native and graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2021. She graduated with a dual degree, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Management. Lexi is also a Teaching Assistant, teaching Principles of Accounting (managerial) to students in the Pamplin College of Business. She is ecstatic to be on the MACIS council to enhance connectivity among the MACIS and 152-Hour students.
Shaina is a Senior ACIS Major with a minor in Statistics. She has been accepted into the 152-Hour Program and can't wait to start taking graduate courses next semester! A few of her interests include Tae Kwon Do, Indian Classical dance, and traveling. She is very excited to be a part of the Student Council and looking forward to the events!
Emily is a current graduate student in the Audit Option of our MACIS Program. She recently completed her undergraduate degree here at Virginia Tech. In November 2022, Emily will be starting as a Staff I Accountant at Withum, located in northern New Jersey. In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Reagan is a graduate student in the Audit Option of our MACIS Program. She is currently a graduate assistant auditor with the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance at Virginia Tech. Reagan plans to graduate in May of 2022 and is not quite sure what her future entails yet. Reagan loves to socialize, so she is super excited to be back in person and going to events.
When not in class or at work, Reagan loves to spend time with friends and family. She loves to hike, attend football games, play with her dogs, spend time at her farm, or just relax and binge some Netflix.
Matthew is from Gainesville, VA. He earned his undergraduate at Virginia Tech, graduating with a B.S in Accounting and Information Systems. Currently, he is a graduate student in the Tax Option of our MACIS Program. After graduation, he plans to work with KPMG in the Tysons Corner office. Outside of the classroom, he is a Campus Ambassador for KPMG.
Wendy (Yi) is a graduate student in the MACIS program who was born and raised in China. She plans to graduate in May 2022 and obtain a job related to financial analysis or risk assessment. She loves jogging, hiking, and swimming in her spare time. She started to become a baking buff and enjoys sharing with friends! The most amazing thing that ever happened to her was meeting exceptionally great friends while in our MACIS Program!
