Biography

Thomas Ruchti explores how the flow of information between firms, regulators, and markets affects corporate decisions. He publishes in top accounting and finance journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Review of Financial Studies, and Management Science. His research spans topics covering the effects of political uncertainty on firm decision-making, the design and consequences of financial regulation, equity market liquidity, and biases in market reactions to news. Recent work highlights how information frictions within regulatory bodies and financial industry practices generate spillovers that shape firm outcomes.

Before joining Pamplin, Dr. Ruchti was a Research Principal at the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Financial Research, where he led work on cryptocurrency and other digital assets. He previously served on the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.
