Biography

Holly Rutherford, CPA, joined the Department of Accounting and Information Systems in fall 2026. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Systems and a Master of Accountancy from Virginia Tech. As a graduate student, she taught Principles of Accounting.

After completing her degrees, Holly joined Brown, Edwards & Company, LLP, where she worked in the external audit practice serving a diverse portfolio of private and public companies, and governmental entities. In 2016, she became the firm’s Director of Learning and Quality Enhancement, overseeing professional development programs and supporting firm leadership in the administration of independence and audit-quality initiatives.
