Dr. Sean Hillison joined the Pamplin College of Business in the fall of 2017 after completing a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also holds a Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, both from the University of Florida. A Certified Public Accountant, Dr. Hillison practiced for nine years in Ernst & Young’s South Florida assurance group where he served as an audit senior manager to various SEC registrants and private equity controlled companies.
Dr. Hillison’s primary research interests include judgment and decision-making in accounting and auditing. His doctoral dissertation examines the influence of client importance and role identity salience on audit partners’ acceptance of client-preferred accounting methods. At the University of Illinois, he taught courses in assurance and attestation and was consistently listed among the Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students.
