Phillip Moore '01

Phillip Moore, CPA, CISA, PMP, is a graduate of our Accounting and Information Systems (ACIS) undergraduate (2000) and graduate (2001) programs and is currently Partner at Kearney & Company, leading the firm’s Federal IT Assurance Practice.  He has served as a project leader with responsibility for federal go to market activities, recruiting, practice development and training, and is the lead partner for IT audits and consulting projects for U.S. Federal Government agencies. 

Mr. Moore attributes his ability to move up in his career at an accelerated rate to the knowledge gained from our Master of Accounting and Information Systems (MACIS) Program.  He indicated that choosing the Information Systems (IS) Option has proven to be extremely beneficial.  “[It] allowed [him] to still get [his] CPA [and also] gave [him] the building blocks for an information technology career.”  Per Mr. Moore, “[a]s information systems [become] more complex and move to the cloud, people with both accounting and IS degrees are in even higher demand.  As someone who hires from Virginia Tech, [he] specifically look[s] for people from the MACIS Program as [his firm’s] clients demand this skill set and they will be our future leaders in the complex technology world to come.” 

Mr. Moore is a Hokie at heart and enjoys recruiting on campus and giving back to Virginia Tech by serving on 5 advisory boards, including our ACIS Advisory Board and serving as Chair of the BIT Advisory Board.
