Biography

Kimberly Walker received a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and also a B.S and M.S. degree from North Carolina State University. She is a licensed CPA in North Carolina with over six years of professional experience as an external and internal auditor. Before entering academia, she worked for Carlisle as an IT Audit Manager in North Carolina, where she worked primarily on operational and compliance audits.

Kimberly's research focuses on factors influencing auditors' judgment and decision-making related to financial reporting. Specifically, her research interest relates to topics involving emerging audit technologies, professional skepticism, and corporate governance. She teaches the undergraduate Introduction to Financial Statement Auditing course. Her honors and awards include an AICPA Doctoral Fellowship and the best paper award recipient at the 2023 AAA Audit Midyear and the 2018 AAA Diversity Section midyear meeting. She recently received two CAQ - Access to personnel grants and a KPMG access to personnel grants in 2021.
