On Sunday, May 5th, the Department of Accounting and Information Systems presented their annual ACIS Scholarship Awards Banquet.  Due to the growing size of attendees, the ACIS department was able to hold the event at the Inn at Virginia Tech for the first time.

2019 ACIS Awards Banquet was well attended.

The event was attended by over 260 individuals including distinguished donors, alumni, ACIS Advisory Board members, faculty, students, friends and family.  This year, the total scholarships given out exceeded $370,000 and these funds were distributed to over 120 ACIS students including entering freshmen, undergraduates, Masters students and PhD students.

Ted Browning presented the Christopher Allen Johnson Memorial Scholarships in Accounting

This year, Marissa Vahlkamp who is the Vice President of Beta Alpha Psi and current ACIS undergraduate (and future ACIS graduate student) hosted the event for us.

Throughout the evening we heard inspiring remarks from the ACIS Department Head Dr. Jack Maher and had various distinguished alumni, donors, and faculty present the awards to the deserving ACIS students.  The remarks, dinner, and award presentations all made the 2019 ACIS Scholarship Banquet a memorable event, and a great opportunity to showcase and reward our top ACIS students.
